About me
A perspective built over two decades between strategy and execution.
I'm Angolan, raised between Luanda, Cape Town, and Plymouth. I studied in Luanda through the tenth grade, then moved to South Africa, where I finished secondary school. In September 1998 I lost my older brother, Luís Miguel, in a car accident in the United States, three days before his 22nd birthday. It was the hardest moment of my life. I moved to Lisbon to live with my maternal grandmother, Maria Teresa, a period of rebuilding during which I earned my Microsoft MCSE and completed Portuguese compulsory military service.
I then moved to Plymouth, in the UK, where I earned a BEng in Computer Engineering between 2001 and 2004. My final-year project, a GPS tracking and fleet management system coded in C, won the faculty's best engineering project award. I returned to Angola in 2004.
Between 2004 and 2010 I worked at Valleysoft, SA, where I was project manager for the country's new passport, visa, and border control issuance system, and technical manager overseeing other large-scale projects for the Ministry of the Interior: driving licences, document management, multimedia exams. The high point was 2008: Valleysoft, in consortium with INDRA Sistemas, was contracted for the vote-counting and logistics system of Angola's second general elections. I served as commissioner of the implementation task force and coordinator of the electoral vote-counting technology solution, including setting up the national counting centre.
In 2010 I founded 3GS Soluções, and in 2020, Power2Build. These are the two companies I lead today as founder, Chairman of the Board, and CEO. You can read the full case studies on the Work page.
I'm the son of a businessman and industrialist. From an early age he involved us in the family business, doing inventories, invoices, and paperwork, and that entrepreneurial streak never left me. I'm the grandson of Portuguese settlers who put down roots in Angola: on my father's side, in Huambo, where they founded Alto-Hama; on my mother's side, in Munenga, Kwanza Sul. I take deep pride in my origins.
As a child, my older brother and I wrote a BASIC program on a ZX Spectrum to animate the logo of my father's clothing factory, which we showed at FILDA the year the company won the Golden Lion award. It was the first time I brought technology and business together, long before I realised it would be the rest of my life.
In the early '90s I watched Kevin Costner's Field of Dreams, which reached Angola on VHS, with the usual delay of those days. One line stayed with me: "If you build it, they will come." It became my life and business mantra: build first, and only then look for customers. Never sell dreams that might not work, only what you know works. That's how I built 3GS and Power2Build, and it's that same conviction about sovereignty, technological, industrial, and material, that runs through everything I do.
I'm always looking for new business opportunities. And one day, maybe when I turn 50, I want to start a foundation to help my country. I haven't had the time yet. But it's on the list.
I got married in December 2011, honeymooning in Miami. I have three children: two girls, born in 2014 and 2016, and a boy, born in 2019, all bright and doing well in school, who fill me with love and pride every single day.
I owe my wife a great deal. She taught me the true meaning of family, and that the old saying is true after all: behind every great man, there's a great woman. I'd rather say she isn't behind, but beside. To that fighter, full of victories, I owe my deepest thanks.
Before any professional title, I'm a husband and a father.
Shortly after we married, Diablo III came out, and my wife, who had never met a gamer before, genuinely panicked over my all-night sessions playing with an American friend. These days she knows it's part of the package.
Married since December 2011, father of three brilliant kids. Whenever I can, we build Lego together.
A gamer since the ZX Spectrum days. SimCity 2000, the Diablo saga, Command & Conquer Generals, and the whole Fallout universe. These days, I play Fallout 76 and Diablo IV nearly every day.
My biggest hobby isn't gaming, it's building and taking apart computers. Overclocking, watercooling, a wall-mounted PC at home, all pushed to the limit.
Dune, Aliens, The Matrix, Blade Runner, and Terminator. Today I follow Denis Villeneuve and Christopher Nolan; growing up, it was Spielberg, Cameron, and Ridley Scott.
A passion for Roman and Greek history, from Alexander the Great to Julius Caesar, and for vampire and werewolf fiction.
I follow football and Formula 1, and I still skateboard whenever I can. I support Benfica and, of course, I'm a Cristiano Ronaldo fan.
